Recording @ YouTube“People Are Strange” appeared on The Doors’ second album, Strange Days (1967), and reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song grew out of a gloomy night when guitarist Robby Krieger found Jim Morrison depressed and urged him to take a walk up Laurel Canyon; Morrison returned with the lyrics, and Krieger set them to music. Its carnival-tinged melody and lines about feeling like an outsider made it one of the band’s most enduring songs.
